Hi Guys, Peter Moff here. Just been experimenting around the kitchen again trying out different starters for the family. Jack Moff has a party coming up, so I thought I’d get the old rolling pin out and get beating in the kitchen once again for my boy.
Some of my favourite starters for kids usually are the simplest. They tend to like no nonsense, quick and easy straight in the mouth food. Here are three of my absolute favourite starters for kids.
The first has to be a platter of Mini Sausage Rolls. Surprisingly easy to make, these little sausages will be sure to go down a treat. Yum! Mini Sausage Rolls are so simple to make yet so effective. When it comes to flavour, they pack a punch. The sausage is meaty strong and sage-y. A light delicate crust with a bit of grease dripping down my sausages usually wow’s the kids best.
Potatoes, I think we can all agree, are one of nature’s finest creations – especially fried. There’s nothing like a perfect, crisp french fry or a big fat fluffy chip to warm the heart on a cold January afternoon. Except there is. I present to you – A bowl of crisps. You can cook these yourself (although I’ve never tried) but store bought one’s usually taste best. Personal favourite is a Prawn Cocktail crisp. An absolute essential if you require filling your kids fast. Carbs Carbs Carbs!
Finally, Mini Jacket Potato (Essentially a roast potato with cheese and beans) to start this sumptuous plate can be served hot or cold, and easily cooked in half an hour. Get your kids to try your spuds they might like it! To elevate this dish, I found that roasting the potato’ in goose fat and garnishing the beans with some spring onions really worked wonders with the depth and flavour of the overall meal. Why not try getting your kids involved in some fun in the kitchen and send me pictures of how you get on.
That’s it for today’s food blog update, new video dropping Friday where me and my son will be stuffing on camera. Ciao!
